If you’re travelling to
Disneyland Paris for any prolonged period of time then perhaps you should consider the things you can do outside the theme park? It’s nice to get a break from the hectic crowds of the park, and you’ll feel replenished and ready to get back in on the action.
Firstly, you should escape
Disneyland Paris holidays by taking your kids on a relaxing carousel ride. This will make them feel like they’re still in the theme park when they are actually in the real Paris. The carousels are quite spectacular with gorgeous, old-style painted wooden horses and carriages that are lavishly decorated. There is also music on the carousels, which will captivate the children for hours. This can be a very nostalgic event for parents, who often climb on board too in order to get in on the action. You can find these dotted all over the city, but if you can’t head for the Jardin Des Tuileries, Parc du Champ de Mars or the Luxembourg Gardens.
The Trocadéro Aquarium - CinéAqua - is definitely a place to take the kids. This tropical water wonderland is packed full of colorful fish and exotic underwater species. Kids love this, and it is even home to a crocodile pit. The aquarium claims to have 9,000 fish and 26 sharks, which is an astonishing amount. They have an underwater sound studio, a film about underwater robots and a cartoon workshop. The aquarium is located in the historic Trocadero area, so if you fancy getting some food you can pop into the museum cafe ‘Petit Jules Verne’ or any of the local restaurants.
The best thing about this attraction is the sharks, and this will cause your kids to squeal and scream. There is also a fascinating dinosaur museum: Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle. Here, you explore a fossil gallery that contains objects that belonged to King Louis XIII and see real reptiles living.
There is so much more than Disneyland in Paris. Yes, it is probably the best place to take your kids for a couple of days – but why not try and incorporate an educational aspect to their holiday? By visiting various museums and exhibitions you children will learn a great deal more while on holiday. It’s not difficult to make it both fun and educational, and you’re kids will feel like they’ve done more with the weekend too. A break from Disneyland Paris also helps with the general format of the holiday, as it allows families to rejuvenate. A weeklong holiday at Disneyland Paris would probably drive you mad if you didn’t leave the resort.
